Ending a Month-to-Month Tenancy

In most states, either party can end a month-to-month with 30 days' written notice. California, Oregon, New Jersey, and Washington require more — and increasingly require a stated 'just cause.'

Deliver the notice in the manner the statute prescribes. Keep proof of service.
